There’s a new version of Sony Creative Software’s Spectral Layers (version 2) and Sound Forge Pro (version 11), and in this webinar, they’ll demonstrate the updated Spectral Layers and its tighter integration with the new Sound Forge.
Sound Forge is my go-to program for audio editing and straightforward stereo recording. Spectral Layers is an editor that’s based on a spectrogram display rather than a linear track. Its most popular use is for cutting out superfluous noises without destroying the timing of a track or momentarily dropping out a chunk of the frequency response. Honestly, I’m still struggling with getting my eyeballs around the display, but in skilled hands it can works some miracles. It’s pretty cool and worth a look if you’re around the ‘tube’ when the show goes on.
