New York City, Jacob Javits Center, October 17-20 2013
It’s a great toy show, one where you can usually talk directly to the designers or at least people more knowledgeable about their products than the clerks at the local music store. In addition the Sound On Sound Project Studio Expo will be featured again this year, three full days of lectures, workshops, and demonstrations. And with exception of the papers and technical sessions, it’s all free if you register in advance. Click here for general information or go directly to the registration page here. Deadline for advance registration is September 30.
I’ve been attending the shows for about 35 years, and for the first time this show, I’ll be participating in a panel moderated by Ethan Winer entitled “Lies, Damn Lies, and Specifications on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately this isn’t part of the free program, but maybe you can sneak in, or at least read my article here by the same name, one that I wrote for Recording Magazine a dozen or so years back.
If you’re near New York or a cheap bus ride away, do consider attending. Since you’re here, you’re bound to find something interesting there.
